Ways of working together

Each piece of work begins with conversation. What follows is shaped by the child, family or team — never by a one-size-fits-all formula.

Individual Therapy

One-to-one therapeutic work for children and young people, drawing on Theraplay®, DDP, EMDR and creative approaches to suit the child's age, stage and presenting needs. Dedicated EMDR therapy for adults.

Dyadic Therapy

Working together with the child and their parent or carer — strengthening attachment and repairing relational ruptures. Supporting the child’s recovery from developmental trauma, and helping the adult become the child's safe base and helping the adult become the child's safe base.

Theraplay® Practice

Playful, structured, attuned interaction. Sarah is a fully certified Theraplay® Practitioner. Theraplay® is an evidence-based model used with families to build secure attachment.

Training

Theraplay® training, trauma and attachment informed training, delivery of therapeutic parenting programmes .

Supervision

Reflective clinical supervision for fellow practitioners — Theraplay® supervision to support you in implementing your training and through the Theraplay® Practicum. Sarah is a Certified Theraplay® Supervisor.

Consultation

Working with the system around the child — social work teams, foster carers, schools, adoptive parents. Bringing a developmental, trauma-informed lens to formulation and care planning.

Reflective Practice

Support to consider the impact of the work on our lives, and our lives on the work — a thinking space for those who hold others.

Who is this for?

People Sarah commonly works with

"When we recognize that behavior is communication, our focus naturally shifts. We move away from diagnosing what is 'wrong' with a child, and start looking at what has happened to them, everything begins to shift."
— Sarah Lewis
